Why I Love Winter

Reasons why I hate winter:
- It's cold.
- Wellington is notorious for the bitterly cold, wind-chill-0 winds that whip off the Antarctic.
- Not being able to do up your shoelaces with mittens on.
- Wearing jerseys and thermal socks to bed.
- Wind, rain and general coldness when you've planned to go out.
- Waiting in lines outside clubs in the cold.
- Having to warm your hands on your cup of coffee at work when it's 10 degrees outside, and not much more inside as someone turned the air-conditioning on full-blast because, "It's stuffy in here."

Reasons why I love winter:
- It's cold, which means you get to wear sexy cashmere turtlenecks and wonderfully stylie hats and scarfs.
- Wellington's winds are the best for any "messy-do".
- Not being able to do up your shoelaces because you are wearing mittens, so you can wear Velcro shoes and not feel like a child.
- Getting into bed with a hot water bottle, electric blanket, or partner to cuddle up to. All three are even better.
- You have a reason not to go out because the weather is crap. Instead you sit at home in front of the heater with a stack of movies and a bag of junk food and other substances.
- Not waiting in line outside clubs because you have better taste and are cool enough to get through the lines.
- Being cold at work is an excuse to drink 10 cups of coffee at day.

Winter is just an excuse to sit in bed or on the couch, eat lots of junk food, drink lots of alcohol, smoke a lot of cigarettes, consume far more than your daily-recommended intake of coffee and not shave your legs. I love it.
