Shoe Shopping Sucks

I absolutely abhor shoe shopping.

I hate it because I have the narrowest feet in the world. I usually walk into shoe stores, look at the width of the shoes and leave. Sometimes I think one looks like it might fit so I try it on. 19 times out of 20, it won’t. This is because not only do I have really narrow feet, but my second toe is longer than my big toe. This means I can’t wear open-toed shoes because my second toe hangs off the end. Like by one centimetre. And on my left foot I have some bung toes which I may have broken when I was younger. One of them is curled under itself and the last joint is fused like that. This joint usually rubs on my shoes and is often red and painful. Ouch. Adding to this, I also can’t walk in high heels. I literally look like a bad transvestite because I am incapable of walking properly. Apparently I swagger when I walk, like a sailor man from yesteryear.

So let me recap. I can’t wear high heels, I can’t wear normal-to-wide widths, I can’t wear tight or pointy toes, and I can’t wear strappy or open-toed shoes. That doesn’t leave much.

Wellington also has the worst shoe stores in the world. The stores all seem to have the same boring stuff. I can’t find any places that sell brands I am familiar with like Kenneth Cole, Diesel, Kurt Geiger, or Guess. There’s no Jimmy Choos or Christian Louboutins. It’s just a few random and plain Spanish or Italian shoes for old ladies who work in offices, wide-fitting brands I’ve never heard of, Kumfs, and sneakers. Even the “fanciest” department store hadn’t even heard of Kenneth Cole. What the hell. This sucks. For this reason alone I would consider visiting Manchester again.

i feel your pain…im terribly picky when it comes to shoes, and, like you, i usually walk into a shoe store, take a quick look around, and walk out. i have a hard time finding shoes that fit right because apparently my feet are some sort of weird half-size, and alot of the shoes i like don’t come in half-sizes. i wear alot of sandals.

“There’s no Jimmy Choos or Christian Louboutins…”

You can afford Jimmy Choos?

If I could afford them, I would wear them. Even if they hurt. :)

Not exactly – but for me I find it so hard to find shoes that I am willing to spend a fuckload of money on something I like. However, I at least wish I could try some on! Not here!
